Hi Melissa!
I am good! Just got over H1N1, which wasn't a fun week, but well, now I don't need to worry about getting the vaccine anymore (which I wouldn't have gotten anyway, but my son has asthma, so I wanted it for him - he had it too!). I slacked off quite a bit in terms of workout and diet, and have gained back about 5 lbs, but still fit into my new size 6 pants. I will probably do a 30 day ED blitz to get rid of the extra weight again.

How are you? Didn't hear from you in a long time! BTW: I started my own blog: www.annettesroadtofitness.blogspot.com, where I try to every once in a while chronicle my journey. Check in if you like!
What are you doing now??? Stay in touch please

Hi Melissa,
sorry to hear that the thyroid medicine outage is affecting you so much, I really hope the other medicine works for you! Again, I realize how little I know about thyroid issues! I just saw this article, maybe it is interesting for you, about how bromides affect the thyroid:

Let's stay in touch please, I miss our daily "conversations", but right now the Dax site is so slow that I barely ever log on anymore. What about you?
have a great weekend,
Annette

Hi Melissa:

I just got another month of Naturethroid. I guess I'll just take this month to month and if I run out, I'll have to go back to synthetic until the shortgage is over. Hopefully, my parmacy has enough to see us through.

Sorry to hear you are having such difficulties. How are you doing on the new formulation of Armour?

Hmmm, T-150 - not sure I want to go there, yet. If you do end up taking it, you'll have to let me know how it goes.

Ugh, I hate all this thyroid business. I always wonder if I brought it on myself with my crazy crash dieting in my younger days. I wish it was something that we could "fix" through clean eating and exercise.

Okay, griping over!

Hi Melissa:

The thyroid shortage is freaking me out. I tried to get a refll the other day, but it was too soon for insurance to pay for it. My pharmacy says they have four bottles of the stuff, but I don't know how many people are using it, so how long it will last.

So, I hear you are taking a new supplement. What is it? I need all the help I can get.

I hope you are able to get the thyroid meds you need. If your pharmacy does not have it, check out other phamacies - you could always move your precscription.

Hope everything else is going well!

Hi There,
long time to talk... How are you doing? How is life after the challenge for you? I am still eating fairly clean, about 90% ED, but only work out about 5 days a week now. Gained a few pounds back, but feel good! I did need the break from twice daily workouts...
Hope all is good with you

Hi Melissa:

I've actually had a rough couple of weeks, but I don't think it is related to the thyroid. I was feeling really rundown and wiped out. Also, my eyes were super puffy and swollen. At first I suspected the thyroid, but then my eyelids started burning and flaking. I still don't know why it happened, but I'm almost back to normal. Last week, I took a recovery week - just yoga and walking. I felt ready to start up again, but I've pulled a muscle in my shoulder/neck and can barely move my head. I've been doing stretches, mobilty moves and some light kettlebell work, but that's it.

I definitely could have more energy, but I've been working long days. Once I cut my hours back, if I don't see an improvement, I will ask for another blood test.

How are you doing now? I know you were having a tough time recently.

Hi Melissa,
I completely agree with you on the let-down! It actually made me almost mad, which I think to a big degree caused me to drop out last week, mentally and also physically to a degree. The beginning was great, but then it felt the 30/30 group had all his attention and we just got the leftovers. On the bright side, that group also brought a lot of energy that was otherwise completely missing. And now, knowing that he is far away, I just hate reading about all the raving e-mails and great results that he seems to be getting! Sounds just so wrong, since we are all struggling, and I doubt that there are a bunch of people that just rocked and rolled and never posted. So yes, I am a little angry right now with the canned e-mails from previous challenges.

Yes, I reached my original goals, but it almost went back from there. I need to re-think my goals and how I want to get there. I think by next week I am ready for something again, but I know that I won;t workout twice a day! No way! I do have to go back to ED though, I can really tell how my body deteriorates when I eat wheat and sweets... Amazing, I never really noticed before!

What do you think: by next weekend we both publish our new goals, and our strategy to get there??? I enjoy your support so much, if it weren't for you and Wendy, and at times Margot, I would have dropped out a long time ago I think....

Hi Melissa,
our last day on LGN! How does it make you feel? I have to say, I am glad it is over, the last few weeks were rough (besides us no one really posts, but then Dax writes in his e-mails about the many positive e-mails and great results he gets - it makes me angry!). Also it is way too much exercise right now, I started this week doing my own thing again. I don't want to stop, but I need to regroup I think. What are you going to do???

Hi Melissa,
I like watching The Renegade Health show, a raw food daily You tube show, and Kevin just had something on thyroids and cruciferous veggies. Check out the first two shows, and then read all the comments on the second show (about what can not be eaten raw) I have to admit I don;t understand everything they are saying about the thyroid, since I luckily don't have an issue, but it might be interesting for you: http://renegadehealth.com/blog/

Hi there! Did you get the results of your latest blood tests? What is going on? How are you feeling? Do you work out right now or do you have to cut back completely? Have you tried lower intensity cardio sessions with a few higher intensity intervalls? Maybe that does not affect you as much while still giving you some calorie burn?

Thanks for reading my blog..I wrote it more for cathartic purposes than for any other reason. I have no doubt that I will figure it out, I always do. I am not sure that overwhelmed is my state of mind, it's more of an I just don't care...sometimes I get rebellious in my old age... anyway..this month is all about my husband's 60th birthday and my mom's upcoming move. Both at the same time and I have business trips before and furing and after. So I am trying to figure out logists for everything.. and I am doing this all with out a drink or drugs... I am laughing...I hear that "no stress" = dead.
Have a great weekend.

Hi there! Back in the swing of things? I am doing the workouts, but my eating is slightly relaxed now. Still ED friendly, but not 100%.... At least healthy! ;-) Will do another fast next week, I think I will do one a week just to cut down on overall calories.
Are you getting closer to the 150s?
Take care :-)

Whoops, I'm sorry Melissa - I just realised I did not reply to your comment. Two power outages last week have kind of thrown me off. I am familiar with Mary Shomen and have looked at one of her books. I am also familiar with Stop the Thyroid Madness. Thanks for the info.

What's next? I'm still eating most ED friendly. I am drinking green tea again and have allowed myself a little bit of cheese and and English muffin. This week forward, I will be a bit stricter again. I am exercising with my new kettlebells, but I may throw in the odd Dax Moy workout here and there. I think the Power Circuit would be a good one to keep; I think it helps with my bach ache.

Well, gotta run - I'm at work!

Good luck at the doctors!

What do you wonder about? Not sure if your last comment got cut off??

Life always seems to get in the way of exercising, doesn't it? It's past 9pm, and I still have to do my 2nd workout today, but somehow I just don't feel like it... I NEED THE KICK IN THE BUTT NOW! Okay, I promise to be back to two workouts again tomorrow, but I will officially call it a night now...
At 7:46pm on July 27, 2009, Annette said…
Good girl! Here is a pat on the shoulder to make up for the kicking! :-)
I know you can do it, and you want to do it, so let's keep each other honest, okay?
BTW, I posted what I found out on juicers on the LGN main page, not much, but honestly I am not too crazy about the juicing. Still prefer blending, and would not spend much money on a juicer! On the other hand Wendy says, juice - and have your seeds! :-)

Hi Melissa,
sorry for the late reply, but 4 days of meetings from 7:30 am to 7pm kept me from logging on... Yes, I made it through the whole accumulator, but I cheated a little: did only 5 each side on the lunges and spideys! According to Dax that is not correct, so I will see how tomorrow goes (if I can squeeze in 30 minutes beteween meeting and farewell dinner!). But it;s tough! Just add up the numbers of reps, pretty grueling. Do what you can and see if you can do a little more each time. You might want on your last round (when you know you can't do any more) just finish the whole 10 exercises, so that you get the benefit of doing the last ones at least once...
Have a great day tomorrow, I will be back more on the weekend!

Thanks Melissa! I’m very excited and hopeful that starting on Nature-Throid was the right thing to do. I’ve been talking to my doc about natural thyroid meds for years, but she was always reluctant.

I’ve always been told that once thyroid levels are stabilized weight loss is the same for hypothyroid people as it is for people with working thyroids, but I don’t believe that to be the case. Actually, I don’t care if my results are slower as long as I finally start seeing some results. My only hope now is that my doctor keeps me on the right dosage for me. She wants to recheck in 6 months, but I keep reading that on a new medication it should be done after a few weeks.

I don’t know if I have adrenal fatigue. It’s something that I meant to ask about (that and insulin resistance) but I forgot. I did, however send her a fax yesterday.

What dosage are you on? She started me on one grain. Today is the 3rd day and my colleague thinks she can already see a difference in me. I think it will take a bit longer, but I hope it works out for me.

Yes, we should compare notes. I’m new to all this.

Good luck with everything! And congratulations on your weight loss. Hopefully, I am right behind you!

Funny enough I had an appointment with my doctor just this morning.

I found out recently that despite me feeling tired and gaining weight, my T4 level was too high and my doctor reduced my dosage. I’ve been on Levoxyl and Cytomel (T3), but have never felt quite right and I wanted to meet with her to discuss alternatives.

I had wanted to try Armour for a while, but my doc was always reluctant; she says the levels are more difficult to regulate. Anyway, I heard they reformulated Armour and was trying to avoid it, because of problems people have been experiencing lately. So, at today’s appointment, she finally agreed to let me try a natural thyroid replacement. I’m grateful for her willingness to bend to my desire. Yes, today was day 1 on Nature-Throid. I’ve read of so many people feeling much better on the natural thyroid hormones, so I am very hopeful!

Sounds like you are feeling much better on the natural hormones. I am hoping for the same.

Thanks for the congrats on the 30 in 30 challenge. My results are nothing compared to some individuals on the challenge, but 1.5 pounds per week is actually good for me.

Thanks for checking in on me. I appreciate your feedback. Here’s hoping that we both achieve much more on Nature-Throid. I look forward to reading about you latest results!

Cheers!
