Day 17 (July 8, 2009) of the Challenge!

Today I feel great. Slept better last night. I woke up around 5:30 am and did my first workout. I love love this workout. It’s not timed and I get to really take my time through the moves and enjoy the work. I went up a little bit with the weight. It was a challenge but I met my goal.

After my workout, I did a little bit of yoga and stretching. YAY!! Also, did my visualizing and affirmations for the day. I kind of missed it yesterday.

I walked to work today (2 miles in 40 minutes using intervals) again. Will keep trying to improve my time.

I had breakfast around 8:30 am. For breakfast I had porridge, mixed berries, a little bit of yogurt. I bet you thought I was going to say my usual huh!

I have almost completed all of the pending projects here at work. One thing though, the wonderful AC has broken. Now, we are in a small building with no ceiling fans, full of windows that have been nailed shut so we can’t open them up and I am in hot, humid, mosquito infested Coconut Grove, Florida!! How’s that for a realistic image!! It’s a sauna in here. The temperature has reached 101 inside the building.

Around 12:00 I took care of workout no. 2 at the gym. The AC feels great in here, I’ll tell you. I really hated this particular workout. I don’t hate it but it’s not my favorite. I have to work on changing my frame of mind on this one. I met my goals so I am happy about that.

Afterwards I had lunch which consisted of a small green salad (boston lettuce, watercress, spinach, baby bella mushrooms, shallots, vinegar, EVOO, seasalt and pepper), a cup of veggie soup (broth), 1 grilled Mediterranean turkey burger on 1 slice of sprouted bread.

Work was not stressful but I think I was sweating more here than when I was working out???

I left work at around 6:00 pm. No time for a nap. I banged out workout #3. I then had to run and get my costume fitted again!! YAY - although the seamstress is happy for me but ready to kill me! She has to keep taking my costumes in!! Ran around looking for some last minute items, makeup, nail polish, bangles, bindis for my costume!!

Didn’t have time to prepare dinner so we went to Swensen’s again. They had philly cheese steak, french fries and a soup. I had broth and a grilled chicken salad (no mayo - just cut up chicken) with oil and vinegar. I behaved. Besides, I was too tired to eat and I really wasn’t hungry but I forced myself.

I actually have to start focusing on my snacks. I keep forgetting to eat them this week. I guess I am just jittery and nervous because of the show. It’s this Sunday so afterwards I can really focus more on my nutrition, workout and rest.

After dinner, I got home and did a little yoga, stretching, and a shower. After my shower, I soaked in a hot tub for 20 minutes with a little bit of epsom salt, baking soda, lavendar essential oil. I went to bed at 10:40. I really have to start getting to bed earlier.

I had 4 ½ liters of water today.

17th day down and 13 to go.

I make my own broth and I'll get the name of the bread for you. The broth takes a while to cook but I usually cook a huge batch and freeze it in 1 cup portions. That way I always have it and all I have to do is defrost and heat. I'll post the recipe sometime this weekend for the broth.

Hi Marilyn - sounds like things are going really well. Keep it up!

I have a couple of questions for you. First of all - veggie broth sounds really good - do you make your own? If not, what do you use? Also, I see you eat sprouted bread. I was eating Ezekiel Bread until we had to cut out wheat. Are you able to find a sprouted bread that does not include wheat? I would love to try it; I miss bread!
