Well Friends for those that have followed my journey since March of 2008 you will remember that my motivation to lose wieight, control my blood pressure and live a more healthy lifestyle started off becuase I had a son get married in June of 2008. the LGNC that started in March of 08 ended the week after the wedding. I Iost 30 pounds and kept it off.
A year ago Oct 31 my step son became engaged and another wedding date was set for Oct 10 of 2009. So that meant I had to stay vigilant. Then in De…

I didn't add the two mini rewards I have discovered, skin brushing and actually applying body lotion (something I never ususlly do so if I do it twice a week it counts as a treat)
That's all for now folks

So, Wednesday I went to an all day meeting, totally prepared - nuts for am and pm snacks (rarely have anything else) and a wonderful chicken and green veg stir fry which I had made before I left. Picked up a herbal tea on the way in. When I left, at the end of a mentally exhausting day, I went to the coffee shop for another herbal tea and was faced with an array of (I know from experience) not particularly nice cakes. I had very little struggle with myself. My inner voice told me to think of the…

Rewards are such a struggle aren't they?
When I was a smoker I used to motivate myself by saying "when you've done X task" you can go and have a cigarette. I stopped smoking nearly 20 years ago and at the time the hardest thing to deal with was not getting the breaks that the smokers in the office had.
Now, as I mentioned in my last blog, a lot of my rewards (often also linked to time out) are food and drink related. And many of them are associated with relaxing, a coffee (and too often a cake…

I tried to post twice last night but the site ate my posts - maybe it ,like me, was struggling with eating clean. I extended my "relax" week into the week-end, managed to eat pretty well yesterday, just one decaf coffee. I had planned to go totally ED today but had not allowed for spending the day at hospital with Sophie. I took nuts and water but come lunchtime really needed some real food. The best I could find was a smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese, and having broken the wheat and dairy…

I can't even remember when was the last time I posted something here... a month ago?? Before my girlfriend's birthday I think.. well I got a little bit sidetracked by life in general, but I'm still working toward my goals.
Last sunday I went to see the Cirque du Soleil with my family (and my girl of course!) and we had an excellent time! This weekend I will go to Patzcuaro, a small colonial city next to a lake where they celebrate the Dia de Muertos with amazing altars and... I'm not sure what…

So still at 72kg (or 158.75 lbs). The upside of this is that it the 2 lbs that I had fluctuated have stayed off this time around. In terms of inches it is nother downward creap - half an inch this time. With 1/8 up on my abdomen and little bits off the rest of my torso.
I'm finding it quite interesting observing myself this week. Although Sophie's ankle and infection are not in any way life threatening it is nonetheless really stressful careing for a sick and incapacitated child. Both Philip an…

(The brackets mean that I am not really counting this as one of my personal challenge weeks)
Well, Paris has been postponed as it turns out that my daughter does have an infection. She is now improving on antibiotics but neither Philip nor I could get comfortable with the idea of leaving her with friends. I'm glad because last night she went all shivery and needy. She slept in the spare room which meant I could sleep on the sofa bed in the next door room. Planning lots of little treats for all…

Well yesterday went from bad to worse. After dinner I headed off to A&E (the Emergency Room) with my daughter Sophie. A year ago she broke her ankle and has metal pins in it and yesterday evening it was really swollen. Between 9.30 and 10.30 it went from being like a half egg on her ankle to half a small orange - dramatic. After hours and tests they have decided they can find no cause (metal doesn't seem to have moved and no infection - thank goodness) so we came home at 3.30 am.
Am now enj…

Well I've had a pretty rubbish day. Not as stiff after yesterday's workout as I feared I would be. Either I am seriously much fitter than I was or I could work out a lot harder.
I made it to my tennis lesson this morning - not rained off which was a relief but since then I have been tied up with work and in meetings all afternoon. Got home after all three kids and I had to prioritise them and feeding them over a workout.
On top of that I really struggled when I left my meeting this afternoon -…

I've got to be super brief, kids tea to cook and off to a function with DH but just to whinge - new workout today from Dax. A total killer. Worse than the last one. And then - he has the audacity to send an e-mail saying it is possible to do it in an hour and if we (Shai and I) are not managing it we are taking too long over our rests. I've a mind to strangle him with his own skipping rope - and yes it does include skipping which I hate and at which I am rubbish. Days like this I need a reminder…

I cannot believe that I've been off blog since Thursday. We had a busy week-end entertaining so that's probably why.
Today is weigh in and the good news is that I am back down at 72kg (or 158.75 lbs) - I had got there on 1st October but then weight crept up a bit. Hope it has gone for good now :-). One thing I have done is that I weigh my nuts at the beginning of the day, no more dipping thoughtlessly into a big bag.
So the stats are down 2 1/4 lbs, 1 7/8 of an inch (or 2 inches on the 30 in 3…

So, after this morning's disappointing weigh in I have been thinking about all the good things that I have achieved over the last few weeks.
I've already posted about the improvement in my pyramid and that Shai and I got to the end of the workout.
I've signed myself and my husband up for a 10 km run next May. Possibly too far away but it was a good date and a convenient location. This will mean that he hops back on the fitness bandwagon which will be all to the good.
I sleep so much better th…

Today's measurements feel disappointing. Up a lb and down 3/8 inch (or 1/8 on the 30 in 30). Will quiz Dax if I see him tomorrow. Think it may be nuts on the low carb days which are holding me up but I really expected something better after yesterday's fast.

Just briefly, today was fast day and I have learned now how great it is to be on a fast day when you are faced with a meeting where the refreshments are nothing but biscuits and sandwiches. It is so much easier not to eat anything and as I find it a real struggle to prepare my food to take with me it helps with that too.
Thinking about maintenance (I know I haven't even got to my target yet) I will probably keep a weekly fast in my diary and I can usually find myself stuck in one all day meetin…

I just wanted to share the massive sense of achievement I have. I've just done the pyramid workout from the 30 in 30, I got through to the end of the second level going back down in the 20 mn - a personal best but with 5 and 1/2 kg weights (up from 2 1/2 when on the 30 in 30) and full push ups throughout AND I even went on to complete the pyramid, something I could never motivate myself to do before. Feeling well pleased with myself.
The workout is a typical Dax mix of arms (push ups, weights e…

Well we almost did it - the whole workout in one hour and 5 mn. I decided against pointing out to Shai that the small print is 3 repeats of the two abdominal sections on the bodywork - no doubt he'll work it out, if only by reading this. I'm B%$ *&Y shattered - again! I've been home for an hour and I can still not muster the energy to move from the dining room table.
Times like these I question the functional bit of Dax's training regimes - I cannot function :-). Great sense of achievement…

Today is carb day on the mega wave so I have just treated myself to a breakfast of quinoa and linseed porridge (which I found at Borough Market on Saturday). While I was cooking the porridge I was wishing that I could melt some soft brown sugar into it. By the time it was done I had peeled and chopped an apple and added local raspberries and blueberries - absolutely sweet enough. So life this morning feels good. And the sun is shining too.
I'm off for my studio workout in a minute - Friday's wa…

Not a lot to report. Measurements this morning - weight static from Thursday and inches down 7/8th (or 3/4 on the 30 in 30 measurements). It is all good but not dramatically so.
My new supplements have been held up in the postal strike chaos but I happened to be in Kensington yesterday and found them in the Whole Foods store there. At some point I shall take a trip over that way for a proper browse. The most exciting thing I spotted (which I did not play on becuse I was no sure what I would do…
