Hi all,
I’m planning to start my elimination diet on Monday 23rd!
It’s a very daunting experience as I’ve pretty much eaten what I wanted, when I wanted. (like most people)
But I think its time to change!
From eating whatever I wanted from the age of 11 ( I used to buy junk food after school with my pocket money) to still eating junk at the age of 22 (buying junk food after work with my own money) I’m starting to notice the effects.
Judging by the other posts on here and from Dax’s auto…

I cannot believe I have not posted for a week. I am finding the going tough. In all sorts of areas of my life. Work has been very busy and I seem to be going from one fundraising event to another in my various voluntary capacities. Finally got all the kids fit and healthy and back at school and now Sophie is complaining of a sore throat and moaning about my lack of sympathy when I sent her in today. I tried to give her the final say in whether she should go in or not but she didn't want the resp…

Important things I have learnt this week:
I let myself have an evening off on Tuesday - I was hosting a fundraising wine tasting, lots of canapes and Shepherd's Pie for the meaties and spinach and mushroom lasagna for the veggies. I "only" had 2 glasses of wine, spitting out all seven of the wines we were tasting BUT it was:
(a) enough to mess with my will power - I ended up having a second helping of lasagna (which I did not need) and picking at the cheese while I was clearing up; and
(b) the…

I just came across these and they made me giggle so I thought you might like 'em too : )
They're genuine signs, newsletter posts and announcements made at, of all places, churches.
Take a look, they're fun : )

Hey Guys
I've decided to create a 'one stop shop' where you can ask myself and my team any questions that you've got about health, fitness and fat loss.
ANY questions : )
I've been answering quite a few lately so I'll pop 'em in here to give you an idea of some of the questions I often get asked.

So, you’ve decided to give up.
You’re fed up of all the diets that have promised you great results yet left you hungry, tired, irritable and weak.
You’re fed up of all the ‘wonder workouts’ that have promised you amazing strength, fitness and flexibility ‘in just minutes a day’ but that have left you feeling tired, sore, stiff and, truth be told, no firmer or less flabby than you were before.
But most of all, you’re fed up of all those fitness ‘experts’ out there who tell you how easy it is,…

Being the author of a well-known diet program I get a lot of stick from people for some of the advice I give.
Especially when it comes down to asking people to avoid certain foods that they may be attached to. No, scratch that, ADDICTED to.
Chief among the areas for complaint are caffeine and sugar, two of the most highly addictive substances in the human diet and two which, if left unchecked can seriously impact upon your health too.
Today let's look at sugar.

I'm slightly doubling up a message I sent to Colin in the ED Affiliates group.
My measurements this morning were - weight unchanged and inches down 1/2 inch in total but with pleasing regular 1/8 here and there where I want to be losing it.
I was feeling frustrated with the lack of weight loss until I looked back over my measurements since I started this new programme on 17th September. I was down at 72 kg within 2 weeks - by 1 October. And I've been there (or a little above) ever since. BUT s…

Well Friends for those that have followed my journey since March of 2008 you will remember that my motivation to lose wieight, control my blood pressure and live a more healthy lifestyle started off becuase I had a son get married in June of 2008. the LGNC that started in March of 08 ended the week after the wedding. I Iost 30 pounds and kept it off.
A year ago Oct 31 my step son became engaged and another wedding date was set for Oct 10 of 2009. So that meant I had to stay vigilant. Then in De…

I didn't add the two mini rewards I have discovered, skin brushing and actually applying body lotion (something I never ususlly do so if I do it twice a week it counts as a treat)
That's all for now folks

So, Wednesday I went to an all day meeting, totally prepared - nuts for am and pm snacks (rarely have anything else) and a wonderful chicken and green veg stir fry which I had made before I left. Picked up a herbal tea on the way in. When I left, at the end of a mentally exhausting day, I went to the coffee shop for another herbal tea and was faced with an array of (I know from experience) not particularly nice cakes. I had very little struggle with myself. My inner voice told me to think of the…

Rewards are such a struggle aren't they?
When I was a smoker I used to motivate myself by saying "when you've done X task" you can go and have a cigarette. I stopped smoking nearly 20 years ago and at the time the hardest thing to deal with was not getting the breaks that the smokers in the office had.
Now, as I mentioned in my last blog, a lot of my rewards (often also linked to time out) are food and drink related. And many of them are associated with relaxing, a coffee (and too often a cake…

I tried to post twice last night but the site ate my posts - maybe it ,like me, was struggling with eating clean. I extended my "relax" week into the week-end, managed to eat pretty well yesterday, just one decaf coffee. I had planned to go totally ED today but had not allowed for spending the day at hospital with Sophie. I took nuts and water but come lunchtime really needed some real food. The best I could find was a smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese, and having broken the wheat and dairy…

I can't even remember when was the last time I posted something here... a month ago?? Before my girlfriend's birthday I think.. well I got a little bit sidetracked by life in general, but I'm still working toward my goals.
Last sunday I went to see the Cirque du Soleil with my family (and my girl of course!) and we had an excellent time! This weekend I will go to Patzcuaro, a small colonial city next to a lake where they celebrate the Dia de Muertos with amazing altars and... I'm not sure what…

So still at 72kg (or 158.75 lbs). The upside of this is that it the 2 lbs that I had fluctuated have stayed off this time around. In terms of inches it is nother downward creap - half an inch this time. With 1/8 up on my abdomen and little bits off the rest of my torso.
I'm finding it quite interesting observing myself this week. Although Sophie's ankle and infection are not in any way life threatening it is nonetheless really stressful careing for a sick and incapacitated child. Both Philip an…

(The brackets mean that I am not really counting this as one of my personal challenge weeks)
Well, Paris has been postponed as it turns out that my daughter does have an infection. She is now improving on antibiotics but neither Philip nor I could get comfortable with the idea of leaving her with friends. I'm glad because last night she went all shivery and needy. She slept in the spare room which meant I could sleep on the sofa bed in the next door room. Planning lots of little treats for all…
