Congratulations Mrs! I just got back from Vegas too, just last night. All that food made me gain 4lbs in 6 days. Is that even possible?! I had many major blowouts on all items not Elimination Diet approved (my prize - heartburn and weight gain!), bu…
Hi Melissa: Don't doubt yourself. You are facing medical difficulties, but one way, or another (eventually) they will be resolved. It may take us hypothyroid people a bit longer, but we will get there in the end.
Wow, Cyn, this is sooo cool! Well done! Congratulations on a fantastic testimonial video AND, even more, a fantastic weight loss in only 30 days! You rock!
Yummy. The food you have been eating sounds delicious! Home gown veggies - fantastic!
Keep us posted about your test results. Hope everytning is going okay!
There was discussion about coconut milk on the 30-in-30 forum. Dax says, "If it's not processed then there's no reason why not to... from an ED perspective. However, you should consider the carb load you're getting and use it sparingly or you'll slo…
That's great that you could get a refill of the Nature-throid! The pharmacies around here never had it to begin with. I was getting it in a town about 1 hour away until I figured out exactly what my dosage would be. Now I have a dosage, but nowhere to fill the 'scrip! The new Armour formulation didn't work so well for me - hence the switch to Nature-throid. I think Armour lost its potency with reformulation. That's why I am just doubling up on my original prescription to see how it goes. I think I'm in tune enough with my body to know if I'm overdoing it. Luckily I didn't have any allergic reactions like I've read about in some people.
Yes I also wish there was a way to "FIX" the thyroid deal! I had hoped maybe doing the elimination diet and losing weight might help. Plus I'm taking a bucket-load of supplements. I am not sure what has caused mine. I've suspected I was hypothyroid since I graduated college way back when, so .. who knows?! Too much partying is my guess! : P
Oh yes, Petra, I was quite freaked out when I first heard about the shortage. I can't find my current prescription, Nature-throid anywhere. However I did find a pharmacy that had Armour and I had some refills left on it so that's the route I am going for now. Before I was having trouble I was only taking 2-30 mg grains a day and my TSH had climbed back up to 4.21, so I upped my dosage and I'm taking 2 grains twice a day - am and pm. I'll see how I feel in a week or so and adjust accordingly. I've only been doing it for a couple of days .. so far, so good.
Last week I visited my doc and she recommended a supplement called T-150 that is made by Xymogen. I would have to take 8 of those daily to equal the dosage of Nature-throid I was taking (2-65 mg grains/day)! Plus I would basically be a guinea pig as they didn't have any patients currently taking that as a thyroid medication. My doc and another doc at the clinic were going to start taking it, too. I may have to do that if I can't find Armour in a few weeks! I certainly hope this is not something permanent, and I have warned everyone I am around on a daily basis that I might not be so easy to get along with for a few weeks!
I hope you find something soon! My local Walgreens had Armour in stock. Good luck and let me know how it's going!
Oh my, Petra! I am glad your eyelids are better .. very strange! I hope your neck and shoulder are feeling better soon! A few of us have decided to post new goals on Monday. Please join us if you would like. Maybe if we all stick together we can shed a few more pounds before year end.
Yes my meds are messing with me. I can't seem to find a dosage to keep me on an even keel. I am working on it though. I see my doc again Sept. 3. All the news I've been reading about the shortage of natural thyroid medication has me worried! Synthetic stuff made me sick. I would hate to have to be on it all the time!!
I hope you decide to stick around and keep posting! : )
Oh I also meant to leave you a couple of links:
http://thyroid.about.com/bio/Mary-Shomon-350.htm
www.stopthethyroidmadness.com
The first one is for Mary Shomon who is a thyroid patient advocate. I also follow her on facebook. She's a font of knowledge and stays current on what is going on in the world of thyroid patients. The second link is the site that probably saved my life and got me moving in the right direction back to health before my thyroid condition was even diagnosed. I pass these along to anyone I know with a thyroid condition - and those that think they MIGHT have a problem. I hope they are helpful in some way!
Yes we definitely should stick together and compare notes! My doc scheduled a recheck after 1 month on Nature-throid so I will get myself stuck next week, and a follow-up appt. the week after to see how the dosage is going. I am currently on 1 grain.
I think if you had adrenal fatigue but had not yet been diagnosed and undergoing treatment, you would definitely know it by now with all the exercise Dax has you doing. Before treatment (and lots of rest) any exercise would put me out of commission for quite a while. Lots of yawning, falling asleep at odd times and having lots of trouble just getting from point A to point B. I was also diagnosed insulin resistant and was given a medication for it but it made me feel ill all the time and I quit taking it. I figured the exercise and eating right would take care of insulin resistance anyway.
So what are your plans now? Sicking with the ED and hanging around here some more, I hope! : )
So glad you were able to try the natural thyroid meds. I do notice a difference even switching from Armour to Nature-throid, and it seems like I am dropping weight a little faster. My doc always told me not to compare my weight loss to someone who does not have a thyroid condition - for obvious reasons! But I am so glad I found something that I can do that actually produces some results! Do you have adrenal issues as well? I am also being treated for adrenal fatigue and knock-on-wood have been feeling pretty good with all the exercise Dax has prescribed.
It's nice to find someone in the same boat with whom to compare notes!
Hi Petra,
congrats on finishing 30/30 - I think you had great results with 1.5 lbs per week! Have you figured out what you are going to do now? Will you keep the ED and some of the workouts? I hope for all of you that you can keep the momentum going, I know that I was thrown a little last week when we had a rest week on LGN... Good luck going forward! :-)
hi Petra! I've been browsing the 30 in 30 forum. Did you ever get your thyroid levels straightened out? I had been taking Armour thyroid (synthetics made me sick!) for awhile and they recently changed the formula. My levels started to change and now my doc has me on Nature-throid. The advantages of the natural hormones is that they will support your T3 and free T3 conversion. Check out www.stopthethyroidmadness.com for more info. Good thyroid medication has changed my life. It took me forever to find a practitioner that would treat me the way I thought I should be treated, but that's another story! ; ) Congrats on finishing 30-in-30!! Here's to much more success! Cheers!
Fast was fine, despite the fact that I work for a gourmet food company, and our R&D chefs were testing brownie and cookie recipes all day long! The smell really got to me, but I made it through! I did it in the past, so I knew it would be okay once my mind is set on it. But for a weird reason I felt hungry all day today, which usually does not happen. How was your day "after"?
