Colin,

I completely agree with Elisa. I've just come across some old measurements from the last time I was as "light" as I am now (October 2004). I was not working out in the same way as I have been since I joined Dax's 30 in 30 challenge.

I weighed 1 lb less than I weigh now but my inches then were:
chest +3.5
waist +2
hips +2
each thigh +1 1/4
each arm +1/2

I still hop on the scales twice a week but it’s the tape measure (and my clothes) I trust.

Happy birthday and all the best with everything

Natasha

You may just be getting denser, Colin :). With increased training, our bones will grow more dense and thus more healthy.....if the inches aren't coming back on and your muscle tone and energy are where you want it at, then you can be pleased with what you have accomplished. But nothing wanting to tweak here and there and continue to upgrade as you go along....keep up the good work :).

47th birthday next week, and I am carrying too much weight. slowly crept back on. My body is still building muscle mass with bodyweight training. An ED with Turbulence training, fasting, worked in the past. why not now??.

Stopped the milk and replace it with water (3-4 litres a day). I have been following an 80-90% compliant diet/lifestyle, but weight has slowly crept back.

Now 16 stones (although the inches haven't returned) still a 38" waist

Suspect carbs are the cause of my bloating, so low carb, high protein and vegetable ED. Stopped the milk and shall replace it with more water. (3-4 litres a day).

Is it OK to take the supplements Rhodeola and high EPA fish oils or an Omega 3 6 9 (fatty acids). Found Zinc and Magnesium (ZMA) helps as well.

Natasha, I used an organic hemp protein powder throughout the duration of my time on ED. LOVED it! Blended with organic yogurt and a dynamic greens product along with a little frozen fruit and ice post-workout (sometimes with a little agave nectar) - it's the bees knees as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure I would have liked it if it was not blended with something else. I guess since it's processed it technically isn't ED allowed. However it's just one ingredient, and a superior ingredient at that.

Hey Natasha,
I have personally used an organic hemp protein powder, which is simply just the hemp seeds ground up....that's it. and I think it's safe to assume that the one ingredient of hemp seeds is ED qualified....

Natasha: Depends, if you are on the detox stage of the Elimination diet. 30days then any Protein powder is excluded for the 1st stage.

I am using the ED as a basis, but on a higher protein/vegetable diet at the moment. (follows approx 90% of the diet). My inch loss is still noticable but the scales are still stuck. (maybe because my body is building more muscle at the moment, on bodyweight training!!).

Still taking the supplements, currently finding Zinc and Magnesium (ZMA) really give me an energy boost. Rhodeola working well, helps with my mood as well.

Also taking the fish oils (in high epa form and a good quality 369 fish and mineral/plant based mix).

Question for Dax or one of his team.

In my quest for easy, protein based snacks I have come across hemp protein powder. It describes itself as cold pressed to extract the oil and the "gently" milled and containing "the complete chain of amino acids, antioxidants and essential fatty acids". Although not "organic" it is also described as being free of pesticides and agrochemicals. The composition per 100g includes - 356 kcal, 48g protein, 14.5 g carb, 11.5 g fat. What do you think?

Sounds like a plan :). Do you find that you are not hungry at your mid-snack time? I have always been the snacker...my energy just drops if I don't have my mids. And good that your trainer is willing to be flexible...it's your $$ afterall.

Hey Colin,

It could very well be that you have not been careful to avoid the foods that stick to your gutt and cause bloating and excess weight, BUT there is also the possibility of a gain in muscle mass as well.

I am currently off my regular training and my weight and inches has gone down, however my eating has not been the best. The loss in weight though is due to a loss in muscle mass. It is a only a difference of 5 or so pounds, but it is still significant. If you are training heavier and developing muscle mass, and eating according to how you are working out then you may see a gain in weight, but more tone, shape, and definition on your body. If your goal is fat loss, then eating a clean diet, watching to some degree your portion size, getting in enough water, etc, and doing resistance and interval training will help in reaching your fat loss goals. I would say that if you could measure your inches (or cms) in various spots around your body to gauge your success and not rely solely on the scale, you may get a more informative view of where the extra weight is going to. This is a great opportunity to tweak what it is you are doing to get the true results you are after. Cuz after all, when you are walking in a room, people can't read your weight off the top of your forehead...it's how you look that they can see.

Colin,

I think you are a victim of diet creep.... from what you posted in the past it seems that you go in spurts: very ED friendly for a while, weight comes down, then back to more "normal" eating, healthy, but not controlled, and weight comes back on. My experience is that the moment I loosen the ED rules I tend to eat more, I eat more wheat (which I notice is making me bloated and easily puts on the the pounds), etc. I still think I eat healthy, but the additional calories etc. just "creep" up on me. And no, fruit juice is not healthy for you! A small glass maybe once in a while, but it is loaded with sugar. Be honest with yourself and look at what you have been eating: chances are that eat way too many calories while not on strict ED! If you keep a food journal for a few weeks and really put down every bit you put in your mouth, and still think you should loose weight, then see your doc. But I would expect that you quickly notice how many calories you consume every day without noticing. Depending on your job and general physical activity, an hour of workout 3 times a week won't make much of a dent either in the calorie balance....

Good luck to you!
