Welcome To The 'Family Home' Of Dax Moy And Friends

There is so much research to back up the good properties of green tea that I kinda feel I'm missing out since cutting it out entirely on the ED program. It is way lower in caffeine than coffee and regular tea, so would 1 cup a day really be a problem?

Also would substituting the regular for decaf green tea still provide me the antioxidant benefits? Right now I am drinking rooibos and detox herbal teas, which I enjoy.

I avoid the green tea when on ED. However, there are loads of great alternatives; aniseed & fennel is a big favourite of mine.

Plus, not sure if you can get it over there but I like the ayurvedic/ yoga teas. You might be able to get them online. there is even one called Choco which I use to stave off my chocolate cravings, it smells of cinnamon & christmas pudding & chocolate. Yummy!

Yes I really like Redbush tea too. Colin, have you tried to do some exercise alongside the diet as this helps with the weightloss, especially when it begins to even out? Well done for your results so far.

Go to gym twice a week (evenings - Monday Wednesday) sometimes a mixed cardio workout , sometimes a Tabata, as well I have a Personal Training session Saturday mornings (currently Tabata Training ), plenty of brisk walks or cycling when so inclined.

My body must be the type that it will start out a steady reduction (1-2 pounds a day), OR nothing for a few days before suddenly it catches up and the weight drops off.

Hi Colin,

Don't despair. You will sometimes find that the body slows down the weight loss to adjust to it's new "lighter" position. Don't be put off, you have already had substantial positive effects. Just watch out for any non-ED cheats, as they will slow down your progress. Stick to your guns & it will pass.

Also, make sure that you are not lapsing into habits of eating the same foods (admittedly healthier, but still don't rely on same foods all the time). The greater the variety of meats, fish & vegetables etc the better.

The other thing you may want to check on is the portion sizes of your starchy carbs. people do tend to still over-exaggerate the amount required. Although, don't deny yourself too much as you are clearly training well too. Tabbata systems are great to really get the heart pumping, as well as assisting weight loss.

Keep up the good works!

Yogi Tea makes a Mayan Cocoa Spice that is devine; it helps cure my chocolate cravings every time. I wonder if that's the same one you're referring to.

I'm still not having any cravings whatsoever and it's day 10. Weird. But whatever, I'm not complaining!

Thanks for the suggestions all. I actually have bought a few of the yogi teas and they are divine :) I haven't tried the Mayan choco one yet, but I am sooooo going to go find it hehehe.

i do miss my green tea though, I simply love the flavour. And this time of year, I am always wanting to sip something warm, its sooo cold here :(

Christine I too am not having any of those horrible cravings I had when I first started- its such a relief! I'm hoping this stays just the way it is :)

Once you've completed the first 30 days I fully support and recommend Green tea, however, the problem is that until you're fully detoxed, even a little caffeine slows down the results you'll get. I know, I've monitored clients who abstain from caffeine completely to those who've had green tea and the results are quite different.

The thing is, you're either detoxed or not. 'Partly' detoxed doesn't do it, i'm afraid.

As I said, once your system is 'clean' , adding green tea isn't a problem at all. I recommend it, in fact

any form of caffeine is not wise when your adrenals are fatigued

Bottom line for you is no caffeine is good someone who wants to detox and who needs to let her adrenals recover and that means NO stimulants.

Decaf is not good, but not as bad, it still has some caffeine and it goes thru a gnarly process to become decaffeinated...although someone recently posted that there is a water method which is non toxic, but I dont know much about it.

However, remember one of the main points about nutrition is we are all different...so green tea wil not offer the same benefits to everyone...

Here is an article from a friend of mine who is a naturopath:
http://www.precisionnutrition.com/rr-green-tea-hazards

It gets deep, but well worth the read.

We are designed to drink nothing but water....do your best to drink half your body weight in ounces and add a tiny pinch of celtic sea salt to your bottles.

Allow your adrenals to recover and you will be a new, leaner revitalized woman in no time...

Hello, my husband and I are getting ready to start the ED and I am trying to get as much info as possible so we are prepared. I just want to be clear on what you all are saying in this thread - that green tea is not ok while doing the 21 days - but the Yogi teas are?? Or are there only specific ones that you can drink??
Any advice on this topic as well as planning out the first week would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you all
Nina

Hi there

No caffeine is permitted on the ED program. That means no green tea as well (sigh). I really enjoy the taste of green tea and would drink it every day instead of coffee. After starting ED I completely am off green tea, and ALL caffeinated beverages and foods. So hang in there. It tool me 4 days to get over the nagging headaches. And I was just drinking tea!

It does get better, actually it gets REALL FANATASTIC. I have so much energy, drive and motivation that everything in life is pleasing. Good luck, and keep us posted :)
